The City is now offering free gas taps to residential customers

Effective December 12, 2011:

Natural Gas Residential Tap Fees in the Bessemer City ETJ Areas with Natural Gas Lines Already In Place
The Natural Gas Tap fee for these residential customers with a minimum of a gas hot water heater or gas furnace shall be waived for a period of two years ending on December 10, 2013.  Learn More
