Previous business:
At previous meeting Angel presented the proposed events for 2012 including the Valentines Day dinner. Angel made a presentation to the city council of the proposed events and they approved the events that have specific dates planned as follows:
April 14, Biggest Yard Sale in NC, rain date April 21
May 12, Wine and Beer Garden at BC Downhome Days
August 25, Alive After Five / Homecoming
New business:
The Valentines Day dinner was a great success. It was completely sold out and everyone who attended had good things to say about the event and Angel's hospitality in her loft. Proceeds from the Valentines Day Dinner allowed BCMA to donate $250 to the pennies for playground at BC Primary School.
Tables for the Biggest Yard Sale in North Carolina are being offered for rental at $20 per table for the event. Contact Angel or any of the BCMA members to reserbe a table. 704-629-4586.
BCMA will provide the wine and beer garden for BC Downhome Days, Saturday May 12.
BCMA has helped with getting a backpack program for BC schools started.
20 children are funded through the end of the school year in the back pack program by churches and individual donations. The program buys shelf stable food for $3 per child per day to feed kids on the weekends. The first backpacks will be sent home with children the first weekend in April.
BC School has requested twenty TI-83 graphing calculators. They cost about $99 each. We voted to give the school $500 to buy 5 calculators.
