The Mayor and City Council have scheduled a special meeting to hold their annual budget workshop on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 8:00 AM. The work session will be held in the Council Chambers of City Hall, located at 132 W. Virginia Avenue, Bessemer City, NC.

Special Presentations A) Presentation to former Recreation Specialist, Carlos Jackson. B) Student Appreciation: Students from Bessemer City High School, Bessemer City Middle School, Bessemer City Primary and Bessemer City Central will be recognized by their principals and the City Council. Students are chosen based on their attention to detail, quality of work and character. Principals from each school will introduce their students and present them with a certificate.

The Bessemer City Council met in special session on March 19, 2013 at 5:15 PM in the Council Chambers of City Hall. Proper notice was given. Members Present Mayor Becky Smith; Council Members: Howard Jones, Donnie Griffin, Alfred Carpenter, Dan Boling, and Kay McCathen were present. City Manager, James Inman, was also in attendance. Call to Order Mayor Smith called the meeting to order, stating the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the lease/purchase of vehicles and lawn mowers. A Resolution Approving Financing Terms was read by the Mayor regarding the purchase of vehicles and mowers. The amount is not to exceed $472,000. Members Present Mayor Becky Smith, Council Members: Kay McCathen, Joe Will, Howard Jones, Dan Boling, Donnie Griffin and Alfred Carpenter. Also present were City Manager, James Inman, and Attorney David Smith.
